The Universidad del Norte is one of the most prestigious universities in Colombia and the leading educational institution in the Caribbean region of the country. The university was established in 1966 with 58 students and ten professors for its Business Administration and Engineering departments. Today, the university boasts a student population of over 12,000 across a wide field of academic programs which are supported by a solid faculty and ever burgeoning research initiatives. Likewise, the university has been accredited at both a national and international level. All of this allows the university to make valuable contributions to the development and growth of the region and the nation. The university is celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout 2016.
Universidad del Norte is situated in the port city of Barranquilla on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The city is the fourth biggest in Colombia, boasting a population of just under 2 million people. The city is located at the mouth of the River Magdalena, leading it to be known as the Puerta de Oro (Golden Gate) of Colombia. As well as being a leading city in terms of business and industry, Barranquilla is also known throughout the country for its traditional and colorful annual Carnival celebration.

Auditorium Block F has seating for 245 participants with a raised stage at the front equipped with a podium and microphone.
Lecture Halls in Block G seat approximately 130 participants. They are equipped with a stage at the front, bottom of the halls with raised seating for participants. Seats have either a foldable table top or fixed table top connected to them.
Projection Room has seating for 85 participants with a raised stage at the front equipped with a podium and a microphone.
Classrooms in Blocks B-F can seat up to 35 participants. Most contain individual desks that can be moved.
Classrooms in Block G can seat anywhere from 22 to 40 participants. Most contain two-person tables with chairs that can be moved.
Classrooms in CEC can seat 30 participants. Most contain two-person tables with chairs that can be moved.
Classrooms in Block I can seat 22 participants. Most contain individual desks that can be moved.
Classrooms in Block K can seat anywhere from 22 to 40 participants. Most contain individual desks that can be moved.
Computer labs in Block I can seat 30-35 participants. They are equipped with approximately 30 computers each, stationed on tables with movable chairs.
For presenters: All classrooms, auditoriums, and lecture halls are equipped with a computer, projector, and speakers. All spaces except for auditoriums and some lecture halls are also equipped with whiteboards. Computers have a CD drive and USB ports. Wi-Fi is available in all classrooms. For any additional equipment, please indicate what you require on the Call for Proposals form.
